My School Year and Homeroom agree on something most of this category does not: one plan, a fair price, and a price-lock promise. At $50 a year against our $49, this is the closest philosophical match on the list. The difference is what happens during the school day.

ChatGPT and hosted Claude have enabled setup paths through Connections. Browse published curriculum, draft a school year, add custom lessons or propose changes to existing work. Your provider account must support the connection; provider fees and usage limits are separate.

It is a solid, honest tool with a wider set of record types than Homeroom ships today.
Record breadth
Awards, activities, standardized-test records, and reading logs with reading levels and page counts. Homeroom has a reading log and hours tracking, but no awards or test-score fields today.
Student logins
Each student signs in on their own device. A parent opens a Homeroom student profile on a shared or dedicated device, with an optional PIN. It is not an independent email sign-in.
Member-to-member lesson sharing
Families can share plans with each other. Homeroom copies plans between your own students only.
Teacher’s Aid warnings
Nudges that catch scheduling problems before they compound. Homeroom’s equivalent is the board itself turning work red at your cutoff.

My School Year’s own reviewers praise the reports and the price while calling lesson entry slow. Homeroom has four fast manual paths plus the one nobody else at this price has: photograph the table of contents and the AI builds the numbered, dated sequence for you.

Green means done, always. Missed work turns red by itself at your daily cutoff, and colors cannot be repainted by hand. My School Year records what you tell it. Homeroom’s board tells you what actually happened.

Homeroom runs no ads and no third-party advertising trackers, exports your full account as a ZIP any time, and keeps records printable after you cancel.
Built-in helpers send their submitted inputs and needed context to an AI processing provider. Connected assistants have their own data-use terms. Review Homeroom’s current Privacy Policy and the provider’s terms before using either.
The correction-sharing preference is in Settings. For connected assistants, select the child privately in Homeroom and review drafts before Apply. Information you enter or authorize an assistant to read in another service remains subject to that service’s terms.
