Homeschool Planet is the biggest name in this category, and it earned that: the deepest lesson-plan marketplace anywhere, real mobile apps, and a transcript builder that handles almost anything. Homeroom is the newer tool built on a stricter idea, that your records should build themselves from what actually happened each day.

ChatGPT and hosted Claude have enabled setup paths through Connections. Browse published curriculum, draft a school year, add custom lessons or propose changes to existing work. Your provider account must support the connection; provider fees and usage limits are separate.

Four real advantages, and the first one has no rival anywhere in homeschooling software.
The marketplace has no equal
More than 4,000 publisher-built plans, Sonlight and Apologia among them, that drop a full schedule onto your calendar. If you want zero data entry for a mainstream curriculum, nothing else comes close.
High-school depth
Weighted grading categories, grouped classes, and transcripts with slots for activities, honors, and test scores. Homeroom grades per lesson and builds a weighted-GPA transcript, but it does not do category weighting or test-score records today.
Student logins and reminders
Every family member gets their own sign-in, and assignments can nudge students by text or email. A parent can open a Homeroom student profile on a shared or dedicated device with an optional PIN. It is not an independent email sign-in, and Homeroom does not offer student text reminders.
Native apps and extras
Real app-store apps for iOS and Android, plus holiday calendars for 119 countries. Homeroom installs as a web app, which covers every device but is not an app-store download.

Where Homeroom is ahead
Homeroom spends its budget on the five minutes a day you actually spend in the software, and on records that survive scrutiny later.
AI that does real work, included
Photograph a table of contents and get a numbered, dated lesson sequence. Say “we did science pages 40 to 42 and an hour at the park” and it becomes check-offs and logged hours. Snap a worksheet for per-item grading. Get rubric essay feedback. Homeschool Planet advertises none of this.
Records that cannot drift
Every Monday, Homeroom freezes last week’s report automatically. Edit lessons later and the frozen copy stays put. We have not found another homeschool tool that does this, and it matters the day an evaluator asks.
The daily loop works offline
See the day, check off work, log time, all with no connection, syncing when you are back. Barns, campgrounds, and car rides included. Planet needs the internet.
The price of honesty
$49 covers everything. Planet’s subscription is $84.95, and the marketplace plans that make it shine are roughly $8 each on top of that.
Recovery when the week falls apart
Forward a whole subject with an exact preview of what moves and when it now finishes, plus an AI comparison of resume, skip, or add-a-day. Planet reschedules well. It does not help you decide.
Nothing lands without approval
Every AI helper returns a reviewable proposal. Imports, check-offs, grades, and recovery changes wait until the parent confirms them.

Built-in helpers process submitted inputs and needed context through an AI provider. Connected assistants have their own data-use terms. Check Homeroom’s current Privacy Policy and your provider’s terms.
The correction-sharing preference is in Settings. Choose the child privately in Homeroom for connected planning, review saved drafts and confirm Apply in the app. Information you provide to another service remains subject to its terms.
