Drafts, Apply and recovery
A saved draft is a private proposal. Saving it creates no live subjects, lessons or record updates.
Review a saved proposal
Open Connections → Review private drafts or Private change drafts. Complete secure review if prompted. After saving, go to drafts rather than back to the pending child-selection queue.
- Open the saved draft and check its child, operation and scope.
- Select affected subjects, lessons or other existing records inside Homeroom when the workflow needs them. The assistant does not choose your private record IDs.
- Correct the proposal's content and save a new version. Include a correction reason when it helps explain the change.
- Compare earlier versions if needed. Restoring editable content from an earlier version saves another version; it does not erase the intervening history.
- Choose Prepare exact preview. Check every affected record, date, duration and count.
- Confirm Apply inside Homeroom only when the exact preview is correct.
Changing or restoring the draft requires a fresh preview. If the live plan changed since the preview, the app can refuse Apply. Review the current state and prepare a new preview instead of forcing an old one through.
Apply and repeat requests
Apply performs the reviewed operation as one guarded change. If its response is interrupted, inspect the saved execution and live records before submitting another operation. An exact retry of the same accepted operation is designed to return its recorded result rather than create duplicates.
Some drafts can be reviewed but cannot execute, including a target with an external-calendar connection. Unsupported or excessive work is refused; it is not silently shortened.
Roll back an applied change
Use Review rollback for the recorded application. Read the exact inverse and affected count, then confirm only if that is the change you want.
Rollback is conditional. Later edits, newly dependent records or other changes to the child's academic state can block it. Homeroom preserves that later work instead of overwriting it to force an undo. A clean rollback retains draft versions and correction history.
Rollback is not account backup restoration and does not undo unrelated browser edits, external-provider history or external-calendar changes. When it is refused, inspect the affected records and contact support with a minimal description of the conflict.
Understand the different recovery actions
| Action | Effect |
|---|---|
| Correct a draft | Save a new proposal version; live records stay as they are |
| Restore an earlier editable version | Save its content as a new version, then require a new preview |
| Apply | Perform the exact reviewed operation on live records |
| Rollback | Perform the recorded inverse if current-state checks allow it |
| Archive draft | Hide it from the main draft list without deleting its history or live records |
| Restore from archive | Return it to saved drafts; no automatic Apply |
| Release Private Focus | End this connection's task context; retain drafts and live records |
| End secure review | Lock this browser's private review; keep the provider connection |
| Remove the provider connector | Stop using it in that provider; removal may not immediately revoke Homeroom's grant and does not erase chats |
Use Archive draft in a saved draft. The Restore from archive link opens the archive list; Restore to saved drafts returns a draft to the main list. Archiving and restoring preserve versions and receipts.
Interrupted saves or concurrent edits
Keep the form contents and check saved drafts in another tab before retrying. A lost response can follow a successful save. A stale tab cannot overwrite a newer version; reload and reconcile your edits with the latest saved version. Ask the assistant to retry with its original arguments and retry key rather than create a fresh duplicate proposal.
