Provider setup
Use Connections in your Homeroom account as the starting point. The production endpoint is https://homeroom.academy/mcp. Copy the MCP URL from the enabled provider's setup page. The URL belongs to that environment; it is not a way to move between dev and public accounts.
| Provider | Setup availability |
|---|---|
| ChatGPT | Production self-service setup is enabled. Your provider account must support custom MCP apps and the required actions. |
| Hosted Claude | Production self-service setup is enabled. Availability also depends on your provider account. |
| Grok | Marked unavailable. A connected badge can appear without Homeroom tool discovery. |
| Gemini | Marked unavailable; no parent setup path is enabled. |
| Other clients and agents | Not enabled through the current reviewed setup. |
These are Homeroom's reviewed setup states, not a certification of every provider account or client version. Provider menus and account permissions can change. Follow the current provider instructions as well as Homeroom's setup page.
ChatGPT
Open ChatGPT's custom MCP app setup on the supported account surface. Enable developer mode if required. Your account or workspace must allow both the connection and proposal actions; access to read-only MCP tools alone is insufficient for saving drafts. Check OpenAI's current developer-mode guide for eligibility and menus.
- Name the app Homeroom and enter the endpoint copied from Homeroom's enabled setup page.
- Choose OAuth. Follow Homeroom's instructions to leave custom client ID and secret fields blank.
- Complete sign-in on Homeroom. Check that consent identifies
chatgpt.comand review the requested permissions. - Return to Connections, refresh its status, then use a new ChatGPT conversation with Homeroom enabled.
- Ask for the learning-plan workflow and confirm that actual Homeroom tools are discovered before proceeding.
Provider confirmation of a tool call does not apply a draft to your live records. Homeroom's preview and Apply remain separate.
Hosted Claude
Open Claude's Connectors settings and add a custom remote connector. Claude's current custom-connector guide describes the available account surfaces.
- Name the connector Homeroom and enter the endpoint copied from Homeroom's setup page.
- Leave advanced OAuth credentials blank as directed by Homeroom.
- Connect and sign in on Homeroom. Check that consent identifies
claude.aiand review permissions. - Refresh Connections, then start a new Claude conversation with Homeroom enabled.
- Ask Claude to use the connector's learning workflow directly. Creating an artifact or a separate app is not use of Homeroom's tools.
Claude Code is a separate client. Its configuration is not covered by the hosted-Claude registration.
Unavailable providers
Grok, Gemini and Other should show a status and a return to Connections, without setup instructions. Do not substitute another provider's credentials, paste tokens into a chat or alter URLs to bypass that status. A provider advertising MCP support does not by itself establish Homeroom compatibility.
If you need another client, give support the product name, client version and public setup documentation. Do not send credentials. Use troubleshooting to identify the stage that failed.
