Connected AI assistants
The MCP connection lets a supported assistant help with curriculum choices and private learning proposals. You choose the child and review live changes inside Homeroom.
Production Connections is available at homeroom.academy/connections for family owners, with ChatGPT and hosted Claude setup paths enabled. The production MCP endpoint is https://homeroom.academy/mcp. Your provider account must support the required custom connection and proposal actions. Enabling a setup path does not establish compatibility with every provider plan or client version.
If you use a separate test site, copy its endpoint from that site. Dev and production accounts and connections are separate; a test-site connection cannot control your production family.
Start here
- Sign in to Homeroom as the family owner and open Connections. On mobile, use More → Connections.
- Check which providers are available on that site. Provider setup explains the reviewed ChatGPT and hosted Claude paths and the other providers' limitations.
- Complete the provider's Homeroom sign-in and consent flow. Start a chat with Homeroom enabled and check that the assistant can discover its tools.
- For work involving a child, follow Private Focus. General catalog browsing does not need child selection.
- Agree on the proposal before it is saved. Review it in Private change drafts, correct it, prepare the exact preview, then confirm Apply in Homeroom.
A useful first request is:
> Use Homeroom to help with our learning plan. I will choose the child privately. Check whether there is existing work, then guide me through the next steps. Do not save a draft until I approve the proposal.

The assistant can save a proposal. It cannot press Apply, perform rollback, edit grades directly, manage your account, publish your records or write to an external calendar through this connection. A chat confirmation to save is separate from approval of live changes.
An authorized connection is a permission record, not a guarantee that a provider is reachable or compatible. The setup page and successful tool discovery determine whether your current connection is usable.
