Private Focus: choose the child in Homeroom

Private Focus connects a task to the child you choose inside Homeroom. In the assistant, refer to the selected child. The connection does not need the child's name in chat.

Approve a draft target

  1. Ask the assistant for a supported learning task. It starts a Private Focus request.
  2. Return to Connections → Pending AI requests, or use the exact Homeroom review link the assistant returned. Older Pending AI requests bookmarks also lead to Connections.
  3. Open secure review and enter your Homeroom password and two-factor code if enabled. This private review lasts ten minutes for the current sign-in.
  4. Choose the child inside Homeroom, check the request's purpose and confirm the draft target.
  5. Return to the assistant and ask it to check the request's status. An approved request can leave the pending list; that does not mean it failed.
  6. Discuss and approve the proposed work before asking the assistant to save a draft.

If no children exist, add one in Settings → Students and return to the request before it expires. Do not send the child's name to the assistant as a replacement for selection.

Existing work determines the next step

With guided draft approval, Homeroom tells the assistant whether to guide a fresh school-year plan or ask what help you want with existing work. A subject without lessons still counts as existing work.

That routing answer does not disclose subject names, counts, stored lesson text or progress. If you already asked for a specific task such as importing custom lessons, the assistant should confirm that task's scope rather than insist on a fresh-year plan.

The target approval does not approve a proposal or its live application. You still review saved work and Apply inside Homeroom.

A study summary is separate

Draft planning does not require learner-context reading permission. Do not grant extra read access just because an assistant says it needs to fetch the child's records before drafting.

The connection has a separate learner-overview flow for an explicitly approved, limited study summary. It is not a full record export. Other schedule, progress and reading-context contracts are not offered by current tool discovery. Private reports are prepared and viewed in Homeroom.

Expiry and ending a task

Requests and task references expire. Secure review's ten-minute window is a separate timer. If a task expired, start a new request and choose the child again rather than sending old references or identities through chat.

Releasing Private Focus ends that connection's task context. It does not delete saved drafts or live lessons. Ending secure review locks the browser's private review; it does not disconnect the provider. See drafts and recovery.
