Community and help

Open Help for the User Guide and the community area. The public guide can be read without signing in and includes a printable PDF.

The adult community provides discussions, replies, profiles and direct messages. Use the relevant community page or thread to read and participate. A community post or direct message is a separate communication from a private family lesson record.

Choose what you share. Avoid putting student identities, private grades, account credentials or downloaded family records into a discussion or support question. Share a short description of the problem and the step that failed.

Use support chat

Where Ask for help appears, open it to ask how to use Homeroom. The AI answers from the reviewed customer guides and links to the sections it used. It cannot look up your family records or make changes for you. If the guides cannot answer the question, use Help to ask for support.

  1. Ask about the feature or task, without names, passwords or private records. Your question, recent conversation and relevant guide excerpts are sent for AI processing.
  2. Follow the steps while the chat stays open. You can still click and scroll the page. On a smaller screen, Minimize chat makes room for the task.
  3. Use Continue chat to return to the same conversation. A Reply ready button appears if an answer arrives while the chat is minimized. Opening a guide link on a phone minimizes the chat.
  4. Choose New chat to clear the conversation and start again. Stop cancels an answer in progress; Try again repeats a failed question when you are ready.

The conversation stays in this browser tab across page navigation and refresh. It is not restored after two hours without activity, and it clears at sign-in, account handoff and student-view boundaries. Support chat needs internet; existing instructions stay visible if the connection drops. It is available outside the student view.

Ask for support

A useful report includes the page or action, what you expected, what happened, the time and timezone, and the browser or provider involved. Quote a brief error message if it contains no private data. Check for unsynced changes before repeating an action.

For AI connections, also state whether you reached sign-in, tool discovery, private child selection, saved draft review, preview or Apply. A provider's connected badge alone does not identify the failed step. Use the pilot troubleshooting guide.

The public policies are available at Privacy and Terms. Support guidance about using the app does not replace those policies.
