Daily tracking

Today shows each student's lessons and progress. Open a lesson to read its instructions and links. Students use Mark Complete when the work is finished; parents can review and correct the record.

ColorMeaning
GreenCompleted work
AmberWork in progress, while it is not overdue
RedOpen work that is overdue
BlueForwarded work, while it is not overdue or completed

An overdue date takes priority over the in-progress or forwarded color. Open work for today also becomes missed after the app's 5 PM cutoff in the family's timezone. Marking it complete makes it green. Colors describe the record; they are not manually chosen status paint.

Parents can mark work Skipped, no credit when it should remain in the record without completion credit. Skipped work uses a neutral badge and does not become missed or move with Forward All.

Time and attendance

Estimated minutes describe the plan. Actual minutes describe the time spent. Review the value before replacing it, especially if several lessons are involved.

A completed lesson contributes attendance on its actual completion day, which can differ from the scheduled day. Parents can also mark attendance for a day without a completed lesson, such as a co-op or field trip. A date is counted once even when several lessons or an explicit attendance entry qualify.

Record instruction outside formal lessons as a time entry. Avoid logging the same minutes both as lesson time and as a separate activity. The reports guide explains hours and attendance totals.

Grades, notes and reading

Record grades in subjects with grading enabled. Parents can correct grades and completion records. Add lesson notes when you need context for your own records. Use the Reading log for book titles, authors and reading dates.

The built-in Quick log helper can propose updates from a sentence or voice input. Check the student, matched lessons, dates and minutes before applying its suggestions.

Working offline

Daily updates can be saved on a device that has already loaded Homeroom online. Keep an eye on the waiting-to-sync indicator. Another device will see those changes only after they reach the server. See offline use.
