Installation and offline use

Homeroom runs in your browser. You can also install it on a phone or tablet's home screen as a web app.

On iPhone or iPad, open the site in Safari, use Share and choose Add to Home Screen. On Android, use your browser's install or home-screen option. Browser wording can vary.

Prepare before losing internet

Open Homeroom online on the device you will use and load the daily schedule. Offline records belong to that device's saved copy. A device that has never loaded the account online cannot obtain the schedule without a connection.

What works offline

You can view cached daily work, check off lessons, record grades and minutes, add notes, log activity time and update the reading log. Updates are marked as waiting to sync.

Library and your family's activity types from the latest sync are available when logging activity time offline. Add, rename, archive or restore types online, then let this device sync before taking it offline. A type archived on another device may need to be changed before a queued new entry can sync.

Planning, reports, Google sync, AI helpers and the MCP pilot require a connection. Use the daily work that is already available on the device rather than expecting uncached pages to load.

Sync and conflicts

Reconnect and let queued updates finish syncing. Attendance uses the day the work happened, not merely the day the device reconnected. If a lesson was deleted or changed elsewhere, Homeroom can refuse a conflicting update. Review the indicated conflict instead of assuming the update applied.

Do not clear browser storage or uninstall the app while you have unsynced work. Those pending updates are still on the device. Wait for syncing to finish before moving to another device or clearing local data.

Student handoff still uses the cached profile flow, but information already saved on a shared device remains there while offline. Follow the app's handoff guidance for that device.
